Perttu-Helms

Emily Kaarina Perttu and Creighton Carl Helms were married June 14 at Eden Valley Orchards, Medford. Don Hildebrand officiated.

Perttu is the daughter of Rauna and Janice Perttu of Ruch. A 2001 graduate of South Medford High School, she received two bachelor's degrees, one in chemistry and one in physics from the University of San Diego in 2006. She is a Ph.D. candidate in bio-engineering at the University of San Francisco.

The groom is the son of Dr. Larry and Rae Jean Helms of Medford. A 1999 graduate of South Medford High School, he received a bachelor's degree in international governmental relations in 2004 from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. He is an intelligence and homeland security officer with the U.S. Coast Guard in San Francisco.

Maid of honor was Amber Sealey of San Jose, Calif. Bridesmaids were Kellie Fiegi of Medford, Karla Zenz of Portland and Kelsey Webster of New York City.

Best man was Jared Silverman of San Diego.

Groomsmen were the groom's brother, Jesse Harris of Montross, Pa., Garrett Meyer of Newport News, Va., and Greg Golphin of San Francisco. Ushers were the bride's brother, Kirk Perttu of Ashland and the bride's cousin, Brian Perttu of Fairbanks, Alaska.

Flower girl was the groom's niece, Samantha Harris of Montross, Pa. Ring bearer was the groom's nephew, Devin Arnold of Montross, Pa.
