The Oregon Health Authority has lifted a health advisory warning against contact with Lost Creek Lake water after testing found the level of toxin-producing blue-green algae had dropped.
Officials issued the voluntary advisory Dec. 4, after a large bloom of Anabaena flos-aquae was found in the lake located 30 miles northeast of Medford on the Rogue River in Jackson County. The advisory was lifted Thursday.
Water monitoring has confirmed the level of blue-green algae now is well below guideline values. These reduced levels are not likely to be harmful to humans and animals, public heath officials said in a news release announcing the end of the advisory.
