George and Marcy Collins

George Collins and Marcy Birk of Medford were married April 2, 1966, at Wesley Methodist Church in Indianapolis, Ind. They have three children; George III of Central Point, Sheri of Rancho Sante Fe, Calif., and Charles of Panama City Beach, Fla. George and Marcy have five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, with one due in August.

A buffet dinner was held at 6:30 p.m. June 19, 2016, at Roxy Ann Winery. Their daughter, Sheri Collins, and her fiance, Bruce Thomsen, hosted the dinner. 29 people attended, including Helen Collins of Nampa, Idaho, and Steve and Jean Summersett of Eagle, Idaho.

George and Marcy came to Medford from Meridian, Idaho, in 1979. Mr. Collins began his insurance career in 1967 in Indianapolis. In 1976, the family moved to Meridian, Idaho, where Mr. Collins was the risk manager for the state of Idaho. In 1979, he again became an independent insurance agent and soon began his own agency in Medford. After his retirement from the insurance business, Mr. Collins became a truck driver and student trainer. Later, he became an instructor in the truck driving school at RCC, until his retirement in 2012.

Mrs. Collins was a stay-at-home mom until the children were in elementary school. Mrs. Collins was a room mother for several years. She also volunteered in various capacities at MacPherson School in Meridian, Idaho, and Hoover School in Medford. She began working in the office of Dr. Edward M. Geller in 1981. She was the office manager until retiring in 2000. Mrs. Collins joined Curves in 2000 and came out of retirement and became manager of the east Medford Curves, retiring in 2009.

Family and family fun has always been a number one priority. They enjoy visiting with family and friends near and far, attending their grandchildren's events, reading and traveling. The couple also enjoy going to the Oregon Coast. Maui and Kauai are their favorite destinations. The couple took an early anniversary trip to Kauai in January. They enjoyed a 2000 trip to England and Scotland. They celebrated their 25th anniversary with a Mexican cruise. In 2008, the couple enjoyed a cruise to Alaska.
