Lawson Inada, recent poet laureate of Oregon, will conduct a poetry reading and writing workshop from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 6, at Lidgate Hall, Medford Congregational United Church of Christ, 1801 E. At 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, Rabbi David Zaslow will host a free screening of the film, "A Case For Israel" at the Havurah, 185 N. Mountain Ave., Ashland.

Alan Dershowitz, Harvard Law School professor and champion of human rights, presents evidence in this 77-minute film from leading diplomats, historians, legal experts and government officials on both sides of the political spectrum to make the case for Israel's legitimacy and right to self-defense. "The Jews of Jacksonville, 1851-1885 history," another presentation by the Jacksonville Sesquicentennial Celebration series, will be presented by Jeffrey Levin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, at MacLevin's, 150 W. Topics include the merchants, the holidays, the families and their civic life — what they did, how they worshipped, the seven families and how they served the city of Jacksonville and Jackson County. The Cornerstone Lecture Series presents, "The Making of the American Jesus," with Dr. Stephen Nichols, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at Cornerstone Christian Church, 608 N. Bartlett St., Medford.
