New church caters to new or returning churchgoers

LifePointe Church (SBC) is a new community of believers who have never really been churchgoers and for those who once were, but no longer are.

Services are at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. at 2001 N. Keene Way Drive, (across from North Medford High School). For more information call 210-8775.

Perazim International Christian Center will have church in the park at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 29, at Donahue-Frohnmayer Park, corner of Spring Street and Sunrise Avenue, Medford.

There will be a barbecue potluck after the service. Participants can bring a main dish or dessert. There will also be games for all. For more information call 776-8532.

ASHLAND — Former Ashland resident Amy Meltzer will read from her new children's book "A Mezuzah on the Door" to children ages 3-7, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at Havurah Shir Hadash, 185 N. Mountain Ave.

Young readers will relate to this heartwarming story of a little boy who moves from an apartment in the city to a house in the suburbs and must adjust to his new surroundings. The Jewish tradition of putting up a mezuzah on the door and the accompanying celebration party help ease his transition to his new home. Colorful collage illustrations by Janice Fried enhance this gentle story. This event is free. Call 488-7716 for more information.
