John J. O’Connor and Betty R. Pardue of Central Point celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Feb. 13, 2017.
On Nov. 26, 2016, an early open house was held at Twin Creeks Retirement Center in Central Point to celebrate their 70th anniversary and their 90th and 92nd birthdays. It was attended by family and friends, including their children Connie O’Connor Davis and Bob Davis, Carole O’Connor and John O’Connor; siblings of Betty, Bob Pardue of Lakeview and Pat Pardue Wooddy of Grants Pass; grandson Matt Diaz and great-grandchildren Ryley, Madison and Jocelyn Diaz of Medford; nieces and nephews Luana and Rich Corbin of Phoenix, Francis and Candy Murphy of Medford, Kevin and Linda Pardue and Keith and Dayla Pardue from Lakeview, Terry and Maurine Dollarhide of Klamath Falls, Dan Dollarhide of Redding, California, Rick Dollarhide of Chico, California, Marcie and Gary Kirkpatrick of Modesto, California.
John was born in Lakeview Dec. 17, 1924 to Nora Barry O’Connor and John Lenihan O’Connor. Betty was born in Lakeview Nov. 27, 1926, to Lillian Woods Pardue and Marvin Pardue.
Both John and Betty are graduates of Lakeview High School. John served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in the Philippines during WWII. Upon his return home, John and Betty were married Feb. 13, 1947, by Rev. Father Phalen at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
John graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in forestry, and much of his career was spent in Southern Oregon. John and Betty were residents of Medford for much of their lives, and raised their three children there. They spent several years after retirement traveling throughout the United States, and now reside in Central Point.
