Bob and Lynn Stafford celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Friday, June 8, 2018. They went to a San Francisco Giants baseball game June 6, where Bob told Lynn the baseball “diamond” was his 60th anniversary gift to her. They are avid sports enthusiasts and are 38-year season ticket holders to Medford High School football games.
Bob grew up in Lodi, California, and Lynn (Bennett) grew up in Lewiston, Idaho. They met in Eugene, where they attended Eugene Bible School. They were married June 8, 1958, in Lewiston in the Open Bible Church. The reception was in the church basement. When they arrived later that night at their Priest Lake, Idaho, honeymoon, Bob was so excited he left the car lights on and the next morning the battery was dead.
Bob and Lynn attended the Open Bible Church on Table Rock Road for more than 30 years. They were both very active in the church and rarely missed one of the three weekly services. Lynn played the organ, taught Sunday School, and together they conducted children’s church. Bob was the Sunday school superintendent there for more than 25 years.
For the past 30 years they have attended First Church of the Nazarene in Medford, where they lead a bimonthly life group and help out wherever needed.
Bob worked as the manager of Gallenkamp Shoes for 25 years, was LaPointe’s shoe department manager for 5 years, and worked at Johnson Shoes in the Rogue Valley Mall for 30 years. Lynn worked at Lerner’s and was at LaPointe’s for 22 years before retiring from J.C. Penney in Rogue Valley Mall after 11 years.
Bob and Lynn play golf as much as possible and volunteer at Rogue Regional Medical Center. They love the beauty of the Rogue Valley and enjoy going to Jacksonville and taking walks in Ashland’s Lithia park.
They have two sons, John (wife, Evelyn, and son, Adam) and Kent.
