Adopt a Pet

AGE: Red is a 6-year-old redbone coonhound mix. And, yes, he’s a hound that likes to follow his nose and chase wildlife (and outside cats).

PERSONALITY: Red is comfortable indoors and out, and has lived with other dogs and children older than 8. He is fine with inside cats. He is food motivated, so training should be fairly easy.

HIGHLIGHTS: Because Red is a hound, a fully fenced, secure backyard is a must so he doesn’t wander. If you’re looking for a handsome boy who loves to sing, Red is your guy.

AVAILABLE: At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S. Pacific Highway, Phoenix. Open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 4 p.m. weekends.

COST: Red’s adoption fee is $105, and includes a 1-hour in-home training session and a free wellness visit at a local veterinarian office. Red is neutered.
