U of O auctioning a view lot overlooking Medford

Want to help the Ducks, but can't throw a football 80 yards? Maybe they can interest you in a bit of real estate.

The University of Oregon Foundation is auctioning off a view lot at 4478 Innsbruck Ridge in east Medford. Realty Marketing/Northwest of Portland is marketing the sale, which has a published reserve of $37,500.

"There's been good interest shown in the property," said John Rosenthal of Realty Marketing/Northwest, a Portland-based real estate auction firm. "We think because the money is going to the University of Oregon, it will sell fast."

Don't expect Rose Bowl tickets in the deal, but a green and gold house could add a touch of color to the surrounding hillside. And there's nothing in the sale that would prevent a Beaver Believer from painting it orange and black.

The .36-acre parcel was sold by homebuilder Noel Moore to former Western Bank Chairman Georges St. Laurent in 1995 for $144,000. Four years later, St. Laurent sold the property to Dewey Wilson for $157,000, who donated the property to the foundation in 2008.

Rosenthal said his firm's first donated property sale was for the Oregon State University Foundation in 1987.

Sealed bids are due at 5 p.m. Nov. 16. For information, call 800-845-3524.
