Lobbying firm John Watt Associates has hired Al Densmore as a transportation and economic development specialist. Densmore had a 36-year career as an insurance and financial consultant, most recently as a financial planner for Oregon Pacific Financial Advisors in Medford.

He was elected to Medford City Council in 2006 and re-elected in 2010. He served three terms in the Oregon Legislature, from 1971-1977. In 1976, he was elected mayor of Medford, serving until 1983. He was a board member for Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development Inc., 2007-10.

 

Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Co. has recruited Larry Griffin as district general agent for the newly established territory of Southern Oregon and Northern California. He will oversee managers in Roseburg, Medford/Grants Pass and Klamath Falls.

Griffin was previously regional coordinator for Aflac of Southern Oregon for nearly 10 years and part of the Aflac management team for the past 16 years. In 1983, he was named marketing director for Pacific Northwest Investments.

 

Lois Schlegel of Life in Bloom Counseling in Medford has joined with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy of Southern Oregon to provide mental health services.

Schlegel earned a master's in mental health counseling from Southern Oregon University and opened her private practice, Life in Bloom Counseling, in September 2012 after completing a year of clinical work at La Clinica. She also holds a MFA in creative writing from Antioch University.

 

John Chmelir has been appointed to the state Residential and Manufactured Structures Board by Gov. John Kitzhaber. Chmelir is a licensed professional engineer in Oregon and four other states, and is the managing member of JCS-OREGON, a civil engineering and construction management firm. JCS-OREGON is certified by the Veteran’s Administration as a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business. Chmelir earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from St. Martin’s College and a MBA from the University of Utah. He is retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
