Danny Dugan, a former Harry & David executive, has joined La Clinica as the organization's first chief information officer.

Dugan is responsible for all information systems at La Clinica, a nonprofit community health center group with 12 locations in Jackson County.

Dugan came to La Clinica from Klamath Falls window-maker Jeld-Wen, where he managed support systems. Dugan spent most of his early career at Harry & David, most recently as vice president and chief technology officer. He is a longtime youth soccer coach.


After 30 years of running the accounting firm he founded in 1984, certified public accountant Michael L. Piels is handing over the reins to Stewart Parmele, Robert Hague and Mark Damon CPAs.

The firm handles audit and assurance, tax advice and preparation, as well as business consultations.

The practice focuses on traditional accounting functions, compilations, reviews, audits, management advisory services and all types of income tax preparation and planning.

Piels has served as Exalted Ruler of the Medford Elks Lodge and on the boards of the North Medford Rotary Club, Rogue Federal Credit Union and Options Plus. He also has been a member of the Oregon Board of Accountancy's Complaints Committee.


Anne Nicholson has been named Chief Financial Officer for the Community Health Center, with clinics in Ashland, Medford, White City and Butte Falls, and school-based health centers at Eagle Point and Ashland high schools, and at Butte Falls and Prospect charter schools.

Nicholson earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill. She then joined Sears' headquarters in Chicago, working as an investment analyst, a market researcher for an annual 20,000-household study, and finally as a national sales manager.

After relocating to the Rogue Valley, Nicholson added accounting skills at Southern Oregon University and became a certified public accountant.

She worked for Kosmatka, Donnelly & Co. and then formed a partnership with Linda Marti, which became Nicholson and Marti, CPAs.

She subsequently went to work for Hardey Engineering and Associates as controller.

She has served on the Red Cross, Campfire and First Church of the Nazarene boards.


Steve Osborne has been hired to oversee the Southern Oregon operations of R & J Mobility Service Inc., an Independence-based firm, which acquired Mobility Access at the end of 2013. Osborne studied finance at College of the Redwoods in Arcata, Calif.

He has more than 15 years experience in the financial and insurance industries, most recently with Bank of America.


South African native Calie Roa has joined the dental staff at East Main Dental Clinic.

Roa graduated from Southern Oregon University and completed her dental training at Oregon Health Sciences University.

During college, Roa worked at East Main Dental doing prevention and sterilizing work.

For the past 31/2 years she has practiced at La Clinica.

Roa first came to America as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student in 1998.

Her husband, Anthony, is a bank manager for JPMorgan Chase in Jacksonville.
