Hidden needles prompt recall of Weight Watchers' hungry toy

The bright orange stuffed toys known as Hungry Figures are familiar mascots of the Weight Watchers line of products, but if you felt inclined to squeeze the heck out of one of them to get through a nasty cupcake urge, don't do it. It might contain a sewing needle.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, in cooperation with Weight Watchers International of New York, have announced a voluntary recall of Hungry Figures and Hungry Magnets, saying that people who purchased the $4 and $7 items should stop using them and return them to Weight Watchers for a full refund or a credit.

The recall was issued after Weight Watchers said it had received two reports from company employees of a sewing needle found in two Hungry Figures. No injuries have been reported.

About 420,000 of the figures were sold exclusively by Weight Watchers in the U.S. from April to July.
