Fred Meyer recalling bag salads from Taylor Farms

Retailer Fred Meyer said Thursday its stores are participating in a voluntary recall initiated by bagged salad supplier Taylor Farms.

Taylor Farms announced a Class I voluntary recall of several Fresh Selection bagged salads after a sample tested positive for salmonella by the state of Washington.

Customers should remove the following products with a sell-by date of Oct. 18, 2011: Taylor Farms Fresh Selections field greens salad, 8 ounce; Fresh Selections leafy romaine, 10 ounce; Fresh Selections romaine salad blend, 10 ounce; Fresh Selections hearts of romaine, 10 ounce.

Fred Meyer customers should check their refrigerators for these recalled products. Any opened or unopened products included in this recall should not be consumed and should be returned to a Fred Meyer store for a full refund or a replacement.

Fred Meyer has removed affected items from store shelves and initiated customer recall notification systems. Customers who may have purchased the affected products will receive register receipt messages and/or automated phone calls.

Fred Meyer, a Kroger Co. unit, has two stores in Medford and one location in Grants Pass.
