Garfield Avenue may soon be the epicenter for eating out in south Medford.
Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Mod Pizza and Chipotle are joining Cracker Barrel in developer Cris Galpin’s Southside Center.
Cracker Barrel will occupy a 180-seat,10,000-square-foot building on the east extremity of the development. Chipotle and Mod Pizza — both operating in the Northgate Center — will open additional 2,000-plus-square-foot locations in a middle building, while Five Guys will occupy 7,400 square feet on the west end.
Five Guys franchise owner Mel Garges, who operates locations in the Willamette Valley and Central Oregon, spent several years securing a place for his first Rogue Valley store.
Outlier Construction, whose owners Ryan Beugli and Rob Mayer are Adroit Construction alumni, built the shells for Galpin Gang LLC. Outlier will also do the build-out.
“It’s amazing how many people in the community have shared how excited they are to finally have a Five Guys in town,” Beuglis said. “My guess is that it will actually open this summer.”
The shell work will be completed in May, he said.
A Cracker Barrel spokesperson said the 1445 Center Drive location is expected to open in October. The state’s fourth Cracker Barrel is expected to employ 175 full- and part-time employees.
Cracker Barrel opened its first Oregon location in 2016 in Tualatin. Another restaurant opened in Beaverton in February and a third is expected to open in May in Jantzen Beach.
