WHITE CITY — OpenGate Capital shuttered Pacific Crest Transformers last November, putting 110 employees out of work.
Now, the Los Angeles-based equity firm that acquired the plant for $7 million in 2005 is liquidating both its highly specialized contents as well as everyday office items during a two-day sell-off starting Tuesday.
United Strategic Client Services of Dallas will auction off everything from hundreds of tons of aluminum, copper and steel transformers and just about anything left behind in the 120,000-square-foot facility. Pacific Crest Transformers designed and constructed liquid-filled distribution electrical transformers at the 300 W. Antelope Road plant built in 1969.
County records indicate the owners owe more than $8,500, including interest, for property taxes due last November.
Heavy-duty fabrication, machine, metal and woodworking tools, welding supplies and industrial ovens are up for bid. Among the forklift and material handling equipment are propane Hysters and electric and scissor lifts.
Among the less industrial contents on the block are ThinkCentre Lenovo and Dell computers, keyboards, monitors, a flat-screen television set, Steelcase desk, letter and legal file cabinets, tables, office chairs, metal cabinets, book shelves, a conference table, 20 Sandusky double stack lockers, a Nortel phone system wither master telephone and 34 handsets, two infrared char-broil grills, Frigidaire and GE refrigerators, microwave ovens, 53-inch round tables, 38 lunch-room chairs, 18 folding tables, a floor-cleaning machine, and a scrubber and dryer.
Auctioneer Mike Jones will operate the proceedings, with inspection beginning at 6 a.m. and bidding on the first of more than 1,000 lots starting at 9 a.m. Activity is expected to continue through 6 p.m. both days.
