Ashland contractor chosen for Camelot Theatre project

Adroit Construction of Ashland has been awarded the contract to build Camelot Theatre Co.'s new performance center in downtown Talent.

Adroit President Bob Mayers said his company's bid to build the 8,460-square-foot, 160-seat facility was $1.5 million.

"We feel real fortunate that we were one of three select local bidders," Mayers said. "It's always appreciated when the locals use local contractors and give an opportunity."

The project has been approved by the Talent Planning Department and is under review by the Jackson County Building Department.

Mayers said he expects to have permits to begin site work on the eight-month project by Aug. 15.

"We anticipate have the building closed in before winter so we can have a dry place to work," Mayers said.

Mayers said the project will require 20 members of his staff and the aid of another 60 subcontractors.

"It will put at least 80 people to work and that's good," he said.
