Wreck's victims were from Talent, Cave Junction

Police have identified the Southern Oregon residents who died and were injured in a wreck Sunday on Highway 199.

Azlan Breeze, 24, of Cave Junction, and Carolyn Calkins, 61, of Talent, who were driving the cars in the head-on crash 24 miles south of Grants Pass, died in the wreck.

Tracy Jackson, 13, of Medford, and Geraldo Rodriguez, 12, of Medford, were seriously injured.

The accident closed Highway 199 in both directions for about four hours.

It occurred when Breeze's car, a two-door Mitsubishi, crossed into the oncoming lane and hit Calkins', a Kia Amanti.

Breeze and Calkins died at the scene. An ambulance took Tracy Jackson to Three Rivers Hospital in Grants Pass, and Geraldo Rodriguez was taken by helicopter to Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford. The children's conditions were not immediately available this morning.

Oregon State Police troopers from the Grants Pass and Central Point offices are continuing the investigation.
