Victorian Christmas comes to Jacksonville

Tours of the 1873 C.C. Beekman House in Jacksonville will be available 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 3 and 4.

Attendees will be able to see Christmas traditions from the Victorian era during the tours and see how Jacksonville's wealthiest pioneer family celebrated the holiday in the early 1900s.

The tours are hosted by the Jacksonville Heritage Society.

Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for seniors and children. Youth under 6 get in free.

Jacksonville's other Victorian Christmas activities start at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, with a parade and tree-lighting ceremony, then continue through the first three weekends in December. Father Christmas, Victorian-costumed carolers and town crier Larry Smith will be on the streets from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday. Hot cider and roasted chestnuts will be available.
