Treat dad to gas-powered history

The 25th annual Early Day Gas Engine & Tractor Association Inc. Branch 9 celebration brings steam engine buffs from throughout the Northwest to Pottsville, the open-air museum village near Merlin.

Built by local leader Eugene "Debbs" Potts to commemorate Oregon history, Pottsville features a church, schoolhouse, stores, library, blacksmith shop, hotel and the museum, as well as wagons, a stage coach, and lots of old cars. And this weekend it features lots of special displays of tractors and other engines as well as live music and other fun.

The engine and tractor show is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission costs $4 per person, with a dollar discount for senior citizens. Children under 12 are admitted free.

Pottsville is on the northwest side of Pleasant Valley Road, about six miles north of Merlin
