Three jailed in car chase

Ashland police handled two car theft cases in the space of a few hours Tuesday after one driver led an officer on a chase on Jackson Road and another crashed a stolen car in Yreka.

At about 5:40 p.m., a man driving a car stolen in Eugene evaded an officer in a chase on Jackson Road after the officer tried to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation, according to the police report.

The driver, along with another man and teen boy who were riding in the car, were arrested 30 minutes later near Norton Street and Ashland Mine Road.

The driver, Brandon Miller, 24, was lodged at the Jackson County Jail for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, attempting to elude and reckless driving. He was being held this morning on $23,000 bail.

The adult passenger, Damien Molina, 18, was lodged at Jackson County Jail for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and for providing false information in a criminal investigation. He remained jailed this morning on $25,000 bail.

The boy, whose name was not released, is being held at Juvenile Detention Hall for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Just six minutes after the Ashland Police Department reported the car chase, officers received information from the California Highway Patrol about an intoxicated driver who had crashed in Yreka and admitted to stealing the car he had been driving.

Justin Lee Roberts, who is alleged to have stolen the car on North Main Street in Ashland, was arrested and lodged in a California jail for vehicle theft and driving under the influence of intoxicants, police said.
