Thieves target RVs parked in storage lots

Police are searching for a pair of thieves thought to be responsible for breaking into 22 recreational vehicles throughout Medford and Central Point.

Over the past two weekends several victims have come forward saying that their RVs, which were parked at four different storage facilities, were targeted. Three storage yards were in Medford and the fourth was in Central Point, police said.

"It appears these suspects have keyed on RVs because they've had success finding valuable items inside," Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau said.

At one facility, the suspects removed a portion of fencing to get into the storage area and then broke into multiple fifth-wheel and travel trailers along with eight vehicles stored there.

The victims report losing several weapons, ammunition, compound bows, flat screen televisions, walkie-talkies, VCRs and DVD players along with cash.

"They've also done damage to the RVs by breaking the locks and windows to gain access," Budreau said.

Most concerning for police are the three guns stolen, which include an AR-15 rifle and handguns.

Surveillance video shows two suspects involved. This video is not being released to the public at this time, Budreau said.

"We suggest not leaving valuable items stored in your RV," Budreau said.

Anyone with information on the break-ins is asked to contact the Medford Police Department at 541-770-4783.
