Talent building listed on National Register of Historic Places

A building originally built as Talent's elementary school has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places, according to a news release.

The building was constructed in 1899 and later served as Talent's city hall, city offices, post office and the library. It also hosted community groups, public lectures, dances, movie screenings and other events.

The building is a rare and almost entirely intact example of a 19th century wood-frame public building, historians said.

The state's Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation recommended the nomination in October 2011.
