Spartans move into first place

BREMERTON, Wash. — Tim Talty and Michael Tallo scored two goals apiece as the Southern Oregon Spartans defeated the West Sound 8-2 Saturday at Bremerton Rink and moved into first place in the NORPAC.

The Spartans erupted for five goals in a high-scoring second period — West Sound tallied twice — in running their record to 7-2, one game ahead of Vancouver (6-3) and 1 1/2 up on West Sound (5-3).

Others to score for Southern Oregon were Nick Stirmel, Linus Persson, Dane Irving and Jarrett Pfeiffer.

Joey White added two assists and the is the team's scoring leader for the season with 16 points.

The Spartans next visit Yellowstone on Thursday.
