Spartans ambush Vancouver, make it 13 wins in a row

Luke Nickels had a goal and three assists, Joey White dished out four assists and the Southern Oregon Spartans picked up their 13th consecutive win, 8-3, over Vancouver on Saturday at The RRRink.

Tim Talty scored 24 seconds into the game to put Southern Oregon ahead for good, and Scott Dunham, Mike Leskun and Jarrett Pfeiffer added a goal apiece to give the NORPAC-leading Spartans (28-7) a 4-0 lead heading into the second period.

Leskun's goal, off assists by Talty and White, came on a powerplay, and Pfeiffer's goal was shorthanded.

Christian McCollum made it 5-0 three minutes into the second period and Vancouver took the shutout off the board three minutes later when Joe Bordak converted off an assist by Brandon Edson.

Nickels' lone goal gave Southern Oregon a 6-1 lead midway through the second period.

The Spartans haven't lost since Nov. 26.
