South celebrates tonight

South Medford High School marks its new campus with a community celebration tonight.

A dedication ceremony, the sealing of a time capsule, music by the school's marching band and a ribbon cutting start at 6:15 p.m. at the school at 1551 Cunningham Ave., west of Columbus Avenue in southwest Medford.

An open house begins at 6:45 p.m.

The 255,000-square-foot school cost almost $80 million to construct as part of a voter-approved bond project that remodeled or rebuilt schools around the district.

A virtual tour of the school is available at http://www.mailtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20100905/MEDIA/100909997.
