SOU forecast Thursday

Southern Oregon University's advanced economics students will share their ideas on the recession and economic recovery in an evening event this week.

The students will present the results of their forecasting project at 7 p.m. in Room 330 at the Stevenson Union at SOU, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd. The session is free and open to the public.

The students will describe the status of the economy and explain their analysis of the future outlook. The presentation will be non-technical and designed for a general audience, organizers say.

Issues to be covered include the following: How quickly will the economy recover from the current recession? How will the recession's course be affected by recent changes in household spending patterns, the slowdown in business investment and the declines in housing markets? How will this outlook be influenced by recent changes in federal and state government spending and taxes and the current problems in banking and financial markets?
