SOU celebrates Homecoming

Southern Oregon University will celebrate Homecoming 2011 this weekend.

Four sporting events are scheduled from tonight through Saturday night, including two home games for the Raiders volleyball team, this week's Cascade Conference Team of the Week.

A Raider Rally at 6 p.m. today in front of McNeal Pavilion is planned before the 7 p.m. volleyball game against Corban College in Bob Riehm Arena.

Saturday activities begin at 9 a.m. with the annual 2011 SOU Sports Hall of Fame induction. 2011 honorees include former volleyball coach Paul Elliott, former football standout Dusty McGrorty, former track and field and women's basketball standout Tiwana Merritt, and former football player and head coach Jeff Olson. A soccer game with College of Idaho follows at 11 a.m. on the SOU soccer field.

Football kicks off at 2 p.m. Saturday against Simon Fraser in Raider Stadium.

The SOU Fan Hospitality Area, first introduced two weeks ago, will be back serving beer and wine. Proceeds go to the Raider Club, the fundraising arm of SOU Athletics. Homecoming activities conclude at 7 p.m. Saturday when the volleyball team takes the court again to face Northwest Christian College in the Bob Riehm Arena.
