Some Upper Rogue areas without power until late morning

Crews are working this morning to restore power to about 3,360 Pacific Power customers in the Upper Rogue area.

All power should be back on by 11:15 a.m., said Monte Mendenhall, spokesman for Pacific Power.

The start of the day at some schools was delayed because of the outage.

An outage related to a failed transmission line disrupted electricity service to 7,251 customers in the Shady Cove, Prospect and Sams Valley areas at 5:07 a.m., said Mendenhall.

At 7:30, the company switched to other sources, restoring electricity to more than half the customers, Mendenhall said.

He said the outage occurred when a transmission line fell but that it is not yet clear why that happened.
