Solstice celebration tonight

Celebrate the shortest day of the year a couple days early, learn about constellations and help feed hungry people tonight during a winter solstice event in Ashland.

It begins at 7 p.m. at Pioneer Hall, 73 Winburn Way, across from Lithia Park. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Non-perishable food donations for ACCESS Food Share are welcome.

Astronomy enthusiast and Mail Tribune editor Richard Moeschl will talk about seasonal constellations and celestial events, plus the folklore and cultural importance of the season. Hot cider will be available.
