Snow possible at 2,000 feet tonight

Snow could fall as low as 2,000 feet overnight in Southern Oregon, blanketing roads on mountain passes to the north, east and south.

The National Weather Service in Medford issued a winter weather advisory this morning that will be in effect from 7 tonight to 10 a.m. Saturday.

It predicts a mix of rain and snow above 2,500 feet later today, with an eventual accumulation of 1 to 3 inches of snow. Blown by gusty winds, the layer of white could descend as low as 2,000 feet early Saturday, forecasters said.

Snow could cover Interstate 5 on mountain passes to the north and is likely to the south over the Siskiyou Summit and to the east on Highway 140 at Lake of the Woods.
