Snow continues, pass conditions worsen

Snow could stick around a bit longer, the National Weather Service reported.

A snow advisory updated at 11:30 a.m. noted that snow levels aren't rising as fast as anticipated and likely won't go as high.

Snow likely will continue to fall in the valley this afternoon, with snow levels gradually creeping up to between 2,000 and 2,500, where they will linger overnight. An advisory issued this morning predicted snow levels would rise to 2,500 to 3,000 feet this afternoon and precipitation in the Rogue Valley would turn to rain by afternoon.

The Oregon Department of Transportation reported at 11:17 a.m. that chains are required on the Siskiyou Pass, where it is snowing hard and continuously. Tractor-trailers chaining up line Interstate 5 past Ashland.
