Smoke above Ashland coming from controlled burn

The large column of smoke rising above Ashland is coming from a controlled burn on city forestland.

The prescribed burn is occurring on Ashland Loop Road above Morton Street, according to the City of Ashland website.

Burning will continue for three days, officials said.

The burn has closed several trails, including Bandersnatch, Alice in Wonderland and Waterline, officials said.

Nearly all trails in Siskiyou Mountain Park and Oredson-Todd Woods are open.
