Senior Shoebox gifts collected by ACCESS

Pre-wrapped shoeboxes of gift items are needed by Friday, Dec. 2, for the annual ACCESS Senior Shoebox program, which allows donors to help seniors, people with disabilities and shut-ins during the holiday season throughout Jackson County.

The program needs donations of pre-wrapped shoeboxes filled with small, inexpensive gift items that will be delivered to ACCESS clients.

ACCESS could also use help delivering the boxes the week of Dec. 10.

This year, the program has a goal of reaching 650 people throughout Jackson County.

To help, fill a pre-wrapped box (the box and lid should be wrapped separately) with simple household items, such as a pocket calendar, address book, post-it notes, flashlight, sewing kit, neck pillow, jar gripper, alarm clock; fun items such as small stuffed animals, card games, crossword puzzles; toiletries such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, bath sponges, combs, brushes, nail clippers; or other inexpensive gifts.

For a list of items, see www.accesshelps.org and click on the "Senior Shoebox" button.

Shoeboxes can be dropped at ACCESS, 3630 Aviation Way, Medford. For information or to volunteer, call Barbara Bieg at 541-774-4324.
