Search and rescue teams train here

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department will host the sixth annual California Oregon Regional Search and Rescue Summer Exercise — CORSAR Summer X — starting today.

The training is a four-day event for search and rescue volunteers from 12 Oregon and California agencies. Helicopter demonstrations, mock searches, ATV classes, rope awareness, map and compass techniques and more will be included in the training.

CORSAR is designed to provide better regional communication and public assistance during lengthy searches.
