Scot Fein is appointed Jackson County surveyor; predecessor died in a car crash

Jackson County deputy surveyor Scot Fein officially was appointed as county surveyor Wednesday, more than six weeks before he takes the seat as the elected surveyor.

The Jackson County Board of Commissioners appointed Fein officially, following a recommendation from County Administrator Danny Jordan. Fein had managed the surveyor's office on an interim basis following surveyor Kerry Bradshaw's July death in a car crash.

"We're impressed with his knowledge and effort," said Commissioner John Rachor.

Fein won the Nov. 6 election, taking almost 50 percent of the votes in a three-way race. He will start his official four-year term on Jan. 7.
