School board members earn honors

Three area school board members received board leadership awards at the Oregon School Boards Association's November convention in Portland.

Southern Oregon Education Service District board member Doug McKinley and Medford School Board member Sally Killen received silver board leadership awards for completing the second level of courses in OSBA's Leadership Institute. Phoenix-Talent School Board member Marina Piacentini received a bronze board leadership award for completing the first level of courses.

The awards, offered through OSBA's Leadership Institute, represent a significant level of achievement in board leadership and development. The institute offers four levels of awards for individual school board members, recognizing completion of specific OSBA board leadership courses.
