Sapienza wins two state titles

EUGENE — Breanna Sapienza continued to rack up state swimming titles Friday during the second of the four-day Oregon 11-and-over Long Course Championships at Amazon Pool.

The 12-year-old Sapienza, who competes for the Triton Swim Team of Medford, won the 100 butterfly and the 400 freestyle. Sapienza was also victorious in the 12-year-old girls 100 free on Thursday.

Sapienza posted a winning time of 1 minute, 9.20 seconds in the 100 fly. Then she lowered her personal best by 51/2 seconds to capture the 400 free in 4:50.96

Aaron Ghiglieri broke the one-minute mark for the first time in the 100 fly to take second with a time of 59.79.

The third Triton swimmer to place Friday was Shan Lansing, who finished third in the 13-year-old girls 400 free (4:57.83).

AGE 11 PACIFIC NORTHWEST REGIONAL — At Eugene, Nate Brammer and Kollen Roohr combined for six hits and 10 RBIs as Upper Rogue defeated defending regional champion West Linn, 22-16, in the third-place game of the 16-team tournament.

Brammer also picked up the win on the mound, allowing one run over two innings.

In the semifinals, Upper Rogue lost to Black Hills, Wash., 4-0.

Brammer went 2-3 and Roohr pitched three scoreless innings of relief against Black Hills.
