Rogue Valley residents: Gather up your leaves

Local cities and disposal companies in the Rogue Valley have released their schedules and other information for leaf collections. In all cases, bags of leaves should be placed out of the roadway and should weigh no more than 40 pounds.

Medford — Nov. 8-Dec. 31. Leaf pickup by Rogue Disposal & Recycling at no charge. Bags (30-gallon size) may be purchased privately or 30 bags may be purchased for $1 (10 bags for free) at Rogue Disposal Customer Service Center, 8001 Table Rock Road, or 10 bags for free at City Hall in the city manager's office, Room 310.

Ashland and Talent — Five prepaid bags may be purchased for $14.50 ($10 for residents before Nov. 5) at the Recology Ashland Sanitary Service office, 170 Oak St. Bags will be picked up on trash collection day, during a green debris week.

Central Point — Monday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Dec. 17 only, collection by Rogue Disposal.

Eagle Point — Nov. 15-Dec. 17, within Eagle Point city limits only. Anyone wishing bagged leaves for mulch may request them by phoning the Public Works shop at 541-826-4212, ext.138, or pick them up curbside on any street.

Phoenix — Monday, Dec. 13 only, collection by Rogue Disposal. Bags should be placed at the curb by 7 a.m.

Rogue River — Tuesday, Nov. 2-mid-February, within Rogue River city limits only. Bag or pile leaves for collection. Piles need to be within the reach of a 6-foot vacuum hose, but not behind fences, in the gutters or the street. After leaves have been placed, call City Hall at 541-582-4401.

Leaf exchange program — Jackson County Air Quality compiles a contact list of people who have leaves to dispose of, and another list of those who are looking for leaves to make compost. Call 541-774-8207.

Rogue Disposal Transfer Station — Free leaf drop-off at 8001 Table Rock Road; leaves and other green waste can be dropped off free of charge. Bags, cans and other receptacles must be emptied.

Recology Ashland Sanitary Service — Free leaf drop-off: Sundays, Nov. 7, 21 and Dec. 5 only, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the recycling center, corner of Water and VanNess Streets in Ashland. Bags will need to be emptied and taken away.
