Renegades rough up Grays Harbor

Quarterback Nate Ellis and the Southern Oregon Renegades amateur football team manhandled Grays Harbord, Wash., 47-0, at Spiegelberg Stadium on Saturday.

Ellis accounted for three touchdowns, while Alvin Thornton and Kris Butler each scored twice.

Ellis threw for 147 yards and two touchdowns on 6 of 14 passing and ran eight times for 29 yards and a TD. He found the end zone with a 21-yard run in the first quarter to put the Renegades up 14-0.

Ellis connected with Butler on a 13-yard TD strike in the second quarter and in the third, hooked up with Anthony Spain on a 62-yard pass for another score.

Thornton rushed for 93 yards on 17 carries. His punch-in from the 1-yard line put the Renegades on the board in the first quarter, and he later found pay dirt again with a 10-yard scamper in the third.

Butler beat the defense for a 65-yard touchdown run at the end of the third for the Renegades, who ran for 234 yards.

Grays Harbor was held to minus 11 yards rushing and was intercepted twice, one of which was returned 33 yards for a touchdown by Ammir Souder.
