Red Cross director to retire

Marj Jameson, executive director of the Southern Oregon chapter of American Red Cross, will retire July 31, after 30 years of service, the organization announced in a news release.

During her tenure, Jameson served as a disaster services caseworker, emergency services director and health director for the local chapter.

Jameson has served as executive director since July 1996. In that time, she has overseen the response to several significant local disasters, including a August 1996 apartment complex fire on Crater Lake Avenue in Medford where 69 families received emergency assistance; floods in January 1997 that forced 200 families to seek emergency assistance; and the March 2011 Pacific tsunami that affected Curry County.
