Public TV show features local painter

Local artist Jhenna Quinn Lewis will be featured on an episode of Oregon Art Beat at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

The show airs on Southern Oregon Public Television's channel 8.

Lewis is known for her luminous realistic paintings of birds, butterflies and everyday objects. She shows her work at Ashland's Davis and Cline Gallery on A Street.

The episode will show how Lewis is mastering trompe l'oeil, or fool-the-eye, painting — which attempts to make objects appear three-dimensional, according to Oregon Art Beat's website.

Sheridan artist Kim Hamblin, who creates mixed-media pieces using nails, and soprano Rebecca Fromherz of Dallas, Ore., also will appear on the episode.

The episode will re-air at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 2 on SOPTV's channel 8. It will air on Digital World Channel 298 at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 3.

The episode, number 1214, is also expected to be posted at on Friday.
