David Vance Pierce

Prospect man held on online-sex corruption charges

A Prospect man faces felony charges linked to allegedly engaging in sexually explicit online communication with teenage girls.

The Southern Oregon High"'Tech Crimes Task Force arrested 36-year-old David Vance Pierce Wednesday at his home in the 400 block of Red Blanket Road. He was charged with two felonies, second-degree online sexual corruption of a child and luring a minor, as well as prostitution, which is a misdemeanor, the task force reported in a news release today.

He remains lodged at the Jackson County Jail on $100,000 bail.

Pierce came to the attention of the task force when one of its forensic examiners investigating a separate and unrelated case found MySpace messages from an adult male to a 13-year-old girl in Central Point. The messages were sexually explicit and offered the girl money in exchange for sexual acts, the investigator said. The subsequent investigation identified David Pierce as the registered user of the MySpace account that sent the messages.

During the investigation, the task force determined that the Jackson County Sheriff's Department was also investigating Pierce for an online relationship with a girl from Michigan. The two agencies shared information and jointly executed a search warrant at Pierce's home Wednesday to look for digital evidence, the task force reported.

Investigators suspect that Pierce also used the names Keegan Smith and Michael Peyton on the Internet. Anyone with additional information about Pierce or suspected online contact with girls should contact the Southern Oregon High"'Tech Crimes Task Force at 541-423-1315.
