Pool record eludes Pearson

Dave Pearson's attempt at a speed pool world record came up one rack short Thursday night at Donnelly's Sports Bar and Grill at Lava Lanes.

Pearson, who lives in Las Vegas and hails from England, holds the Guinness Book of World Records for making 10 racks of 15 balls in 8 minutes, 51.1 seconds. It's one of four records he currently owns, and he's been listed in the book more than 20 times.

On Thursday, he was able to clear only nine tables in the target time frame.

Pearson started over a couple of times to try to get off to near-perfect starts, but ultimately, he said, a few early mistakes and an inability to make lots of balls on breaks cost him.
