Police jail two after business robberies Monday

Two men are in Jackson County Jail this morning in connection with a pair of robberies in Medford on Monday.

Police arrested Edgar Manuel Donis Hernandez, 31, of Medford, and Carlos Elrego Ochaeta Donis, 21, no address listed, just after midnight.

They are charged with three counts of robbery, two counts of theft and third-degree assault after the robberies of Bienna E Los Pinas, a clothing store on Crater Lake Avenue, late Monday afternoon and Novedades La Mexicana, an imports and novelty store on West Main Street, just before 7:30 Monday night.

Donis Hernandez also was charged with sodomy and first-degree sex abuse in connection with a forced sexual act during one robbery, police say.

Police say the men showed a knife to and then assaulted the lone female employee at the first business, where they took money and merchandise, and then shot a male employee in the chest with a BB gun and took money and jewelry at the second business.

Police stopped their car at about 12:30 a.m. in the area of Taylor Road in Central Point. They say they have recovered most of the property stolen from the businesses.

Bail was set at $5.015 million for Donis Hernandez, $3.015 million for Donis.
