Police close Highway 101 for bomb threat

REEDSPORT — Oregon State Police shut down part of U.S. Highway 101 on Saturday morning after discovering a potentially dangerous object in Reedsport.

The highway was closed from Winchester Avenue to state Highway 38 after the discovery of a small, black object on a sidewalk. Police called the bomb squad from Medford to assist in the investigation, although it was not immediately clear if the object posed any danger.

Reedsport police and fire officials, and Oregon Department of Transportation personnel assisted in closing off streets along the highway.
