Planners approve farm protection

The Medford Planning Commission has approved a request by the owners of Rocky Knoll Farm for an exclusive agriculture overlay on 7.18 acres off of Hillcrest Road.

The final order will be approved at the Jan. 27 meeting.

The parcel, part of 125-acre farm operated by Carpenter Family heirs, has had residential zoning since it was annexed into the city. The family intends to maintain a working farm on the property. The commission said a utility easement will be required if the property is ever developed.

The commission is also scheduled to consider a zone-change request on a

65.27-acre property at the north end of Cheltenham Way. The property is owned by Delta Water Properties, led by Jim Root.

The request seeks to change zoning from a one-unit per parcel single-family residential designation with an agriculture overlay to a 10-unit per acre zoning.
