Pipeline regulators here tonight

Federal regulators are in town tonight to hear what the public thinks about the liquid natural gas pipeline a company wants to run through the northern part of the county.

The meeting organized by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the Red Lion Hotel, 200 N. Riverside Ave., Medford.

It's one of four set around Oregon this week on the proposal by Jordan Cove to build a liquid natural gas terminal in Coos Bay and run a 230-mile-long pipeline through the Upper Rogue region en route to Malin in Klamath County.

Opposition to the plan has been strong among people concerned about land rights, safety and the environment.
