Management consultant Cynthia Scherr has been appointed to the People's Bank of Commerce board of directors.

Scherr's local clients include Lithia Motors, Medical Eye Center, Micro-Trains Line Inc., Southern Oregon Public Television, Britt Festivals, Ashland Community Hospital, Freight Logistics, Commercial Property Management, Gary West Meats and Southern Oregon University. She also teaches Organizational Leadership and Presentation Skills as an adjunct faculty member in the Southern Oregon University Masters in Management Program.

Scherr has taught for Southern Oregon University at the University of Guanajuato, Mexico, and at the SOU/RCC Higher Education Center in Medford. She also conducts workshops for the Southern Oregon High Performance Enterprise Consortium and does management training.

She earned a master's in business administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, a master of theological studies from Harvard Divinity School and a bachelor's degree from Oberlin College.


Raj Parikh has been named dean of the School of Business at Southern Oregon University. Parikh has 17 years of experience in academic administration as department chair, MBA program director, dean of lifelong learning, dean of three schools of business and provost and vice president of academic affairs.

He has been chief executive officer of Ras Al Khaimah Education Company in the United Arab Emirates.

Parikh earned his doctorate in accounting and finance at the University of Buffalo. He is also a chartered financial analyst, a certified management accountant and a certified financial manager. He is co-author of "World Accounting," a three-volume text on international accounting.

From 2004 to 2007, he was provost and vice president for academic affairs and acting dean of the college of business at Delaware State University in Dover. Previously, he served as dean of the division of business and professor of business administration at Wilmington University in Delaware.


Jennifer Reames of Grants Pass has been named a financial representative for Country Financial.

Reames can provide clients with auto, home life and long-term care insurance, annuities, mutual funds and college education funding options. She can also offer investment management, retirement planning and trust services through Country Trust Bank.
