Party like it's 2009

Now is the time for New Year's Eve celebrations of all sorts.

Sip samples and stock up on bubbly in a festive atmosphere at Pacific Wine Club's "Festive Bubble Bash in the Warehouse" from 2 to 6 p.m. at 3588 Heathrow Way, Medford. The wine club's free open house features complimentary wine tastings, door prizes, and finger foods. Call 245-3334 for information.

The Purple Heart Band at the Little Brown Jug in Talent, 104 S. Pacific Highway:

Hired Gun and Sinner Boy at Ed's Oasis in Eagle Point, 299 Old Highway 62;

A dance at the Evergreen Ballroom in White City, 6088 Crater Lake Ave.;

A multigenerational dance at Havurah Shir Hadash, 815 N. Mountain Ave., in Ashland;

And a global peace dance at Headwaters, Fourth and C streets, in Ashland.

For something different, the annual free New Year's Eve concert at St. Mark's Episcopal Church at 7 tonight with performances by Kirsten Boldt-Neurohr (bassoon), John Neurohr (trombone), Christian Mathisen (tenor), Kimberly Fitch (viola), Irene Fitch (oboe), Debra Harris (flute), the SOU Faculty Brass Quintet, and others. The concert will be followed by a gala reception and then, at approximately 9 p.m., the Service of Night Prayer for the New Year, from the New Zealand Prayer Book.
