Pack up some canned goods and ski for free

Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy a free day at Mount Ashland Sunday in exchange for bringing five or more cans of nonperishable food for ACCESS Food Share's annual food drive. It's all part of Mount Ashland's "Ski and Ride Against Hunger Day."

A food donation will get you an all-day lift ticket good from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on all ski trails and chairlifts. Tickets regularly cost $43 for adults and $35 for kids and seniors on weekends.

Last year, skiers and boarders contributed 4,764 pounds of food, and the ski area gave away 962 lift tickets. This year need for food is even greater, and so is the need for a break on lift tickets. Get out there to have some fun and do some good.
